Findings & Materials Guide
The clasps, chains, metals and finishes behind every Ayaiya piece.

Findings
Findings are the non-gemstone components used to construct a piece: clasps, spacers, connectors and fittings. They are chosen to complement the stones, not compete with them.
- Jump rings – Small open or closed metal loops used to attach components, clasps, charms and pendants to chains.
- Clasps – Fasteners for necklaces and bracelets, including lobster claws, toggle clasps, bolt rings and magnetic options.
- Chains – Linked metal lengths used as the base of a necklace or bracelet, or to connect other components together.
- Earring findings – Components for creating earrings, such as ear wires (hooks), studs, hoops, threaders and butterfly scrolls.
- Headpins and eyepins – Short pieces of wire with a flat head or a loop at the end, used for hanging beads as drops or linking components.
- Crimp beads and covers – Tiny metal beads squeezed onto flexible beading wire to secure loops, often hidden by a snap-on crimp cover for a clean finish.
- Pendant bails – Loops or clamps attached to stones or pendants so they can slide easily onto a necklace chain.
- Cord and ribbon ends – Metal caps or clamps used to finish off leather, ribbon or multi-strand cords securely before attaching a clasp.
- Bead caps – Concave metal pieces placed above and below beads to decorate and frame them.
- Connectors and links – Decorative or pre-formed multi-loop metal pieces used to join various segments of a bracelet or necklace.
Materials we use
- Silver – A classic, bright white-toned metal.
- Sterling silver – A durable silver alloy (92.5% pure silver), valued for its shine and longevity.
- 316L & 304 stainless steel – Hypoallergenic, tarnish-resistant grades of stainless steel widely used in modern jewellery.
- Copper – A warm-toned metal with a distinctive reddish hue.
- Rhinestone ball beads – Round metal beads set with small rhinestones for added sparkle.
- Rhinestone rondelle – A small spacer bead set with rhinestones, adding sparkle between gemstone beads.
Colours & finishes
Our findings and metal components come in a range of finishes:
- Golden – A warm, classic gold-tone finish.
- Silvery – A bright, cool-toned silver finish.
- White gold plated – A silvery-white finish achieved by plating with white gold.
- 18K gold plated – A rich gold finish plated to an 18-karat gold standard.
- 14K gold plated – A slightly lighter gold finish plated to a 14-karat gold standard.
- Rhodium plated – A bright, tarnish-resistant white finish, often used to protect silver from oxidising.
